Privacy policy
Who we are
Assetz is an app for keeping track of your assets, insurance and loans, and for passing that information to the people you choose. For any privacy question or request, write to naga2980@gmail.com.
What you give us
- Account: your email address, or the name and email of the Google account you sign in with, and your mobile number. We use the mobile number for your account (so it can open the same account) and, only if we offer them and you turn them on, for reminders by SMS. We do not sell it or use it for marketing.
- Truecaller (optional): if you choose "Continue with Truecaller" or confirm your mobile number with Truecaller, Truecaller tells us, with your consent on its screen, your verified mobile number and the name on your Truecaller profile. On a phone without the Truecaller app, Truecaller may confirm your number with a missed call or a code instead. We use this only to sign you in and to confirm that the number is yours.
- Profile (optional): name, date of birth, gender, occupation, income, address and an emergency contact, if you fill them in.
- Assets and loans: what you record: names of banks, insurers and other companies; policy, account and similar numbers; amounts, dates and notes.
- Details for claim forms (optional): for you and the people you add, the name as on documents, father's or spouse's name, gender, occupation, address, and, only if you add them, Aadhaar, PAN, bank account number and IFSC. Aadhaar, PAN, bank account and IFSC are locked on your phone with a Vault PIN that only you know (AES-256 encryption) before they are stored; we cannot read them, they are never shared with your nominees, and if the Vault PIN is forgotten nobody can open them. If you turn on fingerprint unlock, the vault key is kept only in your phone's secure storage and is removed when you sign out. They are used only to fill claim forms on your phone.
- People: the family members and nominees you add (name and relationship; email, mobile number and date of birth only if you enter them), and who is a nominee, co-owner or covered person on each asset.
What stays only on your phone
- Expenses, budgets and goals.
- Documents and photos you attach to assets.
- Documents you scan to fill a form: the text is read on your phone, and the document is not uploaded.
- Backup files you create. They are encrypted with a passphrase only you know, and you choose where to keep them.
What is collected automatically
- Sign-in and activity times: when you last signed in and last used the app. The Legacy Switch uses these to know whether you are still active.
- Notification token: an identifier for your phone, so we can send notifications you have not turned off. Due-date reminders are worked out and scheduled on your phone.
- Crash and performance reports: technical details about the device and app when something goes wrong or is slow. They do not include your asset details.
- App integrity checks: Google Play confirms that requests come from the genuine app.
- Advertising: on the free plan, some screens show ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising ID and may show personalised ads. You can reset the advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in your phone's settings (Google > Ads). Your financial details are never given to advertisers.
How we use it
- To show and keep your records, work out your net worth, readiness and health scores, and remind you about due dates.
- To share what you choose with your nominees, when you choose (see below).
- To keep your account secure, fix crashes and make the app faster.
- To show ads on the free plan, and to run rewards and referrals.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your financial details to target ads.
Sharing with your nominees
If you add a nominee with an email address and choose to share with them, a copy of the assets marked for them is kept for that nominee. The nominee can read it only after signing in with that verified email, and only when you chose "always", or when you have not used the app for the number of days you chose (the Legacy Switch). The copy hides most identifiers to the last four characters. Policy, loan and bank account numbers, PRAN, UAN and vehicle registration are shown in full, because a nominee needs them to make a claim. Card numbers are always hidden. For assets that have an official claim form, the copy also includes the details that form needs (such as the institution, branch, amount, make and model, or scheme name), so the nominee can fill the form on their own phone; your Aadhaar, PAN and bank numbers are never included. You can change or stop sharing at any time.
Sharing with your spouse
If you invite your spouse by email (Profile > Share with my spouse), they can read all your assets and the people on them, with full numbers, after they sign in to Assetz with that verified email and accept. They cannot change anything, and they never see your Vault, claim-form details, documents, points or settings. Either of you can stop it at any time, and it ends when either account is deleted.
Services we use
Your data is stored and processed by Google, under Google's terms and security, through these services: Firebase Authentication (sign-in), Cloud Firestore (your online records), Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications), Firebase Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring (crash and speed reports), Firebase App Check with Play Integrity (genuine-app checks), Google Sign-In, Google AdMob (ads) and ML Kit text recognition, which runs on your phone. If you use Truecaller to sign in or confirm your number, Truecaller (True Software Scandinavia AB) handles that step under its own privacy policy. A small server of ours, hosted on Oracle Cloud, checks Truecaller sign-ins and mobile numbers and sends account emails (such as password reset); it keeps no copy of your records. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by these services.
Security
You can lock the app with a PIN or fingerprint and hide it from screenshots and the recent-apps view. Each person's records can be read only by their own account, by their nominees as described above, and by a spouse you invited and who accepted. No method of storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you if a breach affects you, as the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your online data, nominee copies and spouse sharing links are deleted. Crash and performance reports are kept only for the limited time set by Google Firebase.
Your choices and rights
- See and correct your details in the app at any time.
- Delete your account and data in the app (Profile > Delete my account), or by email: see how to delete your account.
- Turn notifications off in the app or in your phone settings.
- Ask us what we hold about you, or raise a concern, by writing to naga2980@gmail.com. We reply within 30 days. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
Assetz is meant for adults (18 and over). We do not knowingly collect data from children. You may record a child as a family member or nominee as part of your own records.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.
